Icebreaker – First Post

My name is Evelyn, nice to virtually meet you.

Here are a few basics about me and my style:
– I don’t follow a trend unless I feel it will sustain the test of time (+5 years or so)
– I fluctuate between extremely feminine (1960s floral dresses) and tomboyish (leather, loose shirts and dark) outfits.
– I rarely dress to impress the opposite sex. From time to time I will channel my inner seductress or vixen but as a norm I prefer my style to reflect my laid-back and down-to-earth personality.
– I am a thrifty shopper and will not waste hundreds of dollars on a garment just because it has a “brand-name” label.
– I like DIY fashion projects

Miami fashion is unique in that it does not follow the rules of seasonality. Our weather is usually hot, rainy and humid. On average, once a year we get about a week or so of “cold” 40 degree temperature. Therefore, keeping up with fashion trends based on the Spring/Fall collections is self-defeating and impractical.

I’ve always thought that there needs to be a niche style guide or fashion blog for South Florida girls. Since I couldn’t find one that seemed to suit my needs, I decided to make one.

Furthermore, I enjoy going out and exploring this wonderful, crazy city which I’m lucky to call home. Therefore, I will be posting some of my weekly adventures and outings. These include but are not limited to: going out to bars/restaurants, going to concerts, going to art exhibitions, going to the beach/camping/anything outdoorsy, etc.

So here goes… I hope you enjoy my posts.
